What it is
Automations send messages automatically when something happens — a guest checks in for the first time, a member misses several Sundays, or an event is coming up. They run in the background so your team doesn't have to remember follow-up.
Where to find it
- Dashboard → Automations (
/dashboard/communications/automations) - Create new:
/dashboard/communications/automations/new
Step-by-step workflow
- Open Automations — Go to Dashboard → Automations from the Communication section.
- Create an automation — Click New Automation and choose a trigger type:
- Guest check-in
- First-time guest
- Absent member (missed N Sundays)
- Event created / event reminder
- Manual segment
- Configure the trigger — Set conditions (e.g., "missed 3 consecutive Sundays" or "24 hours before event").
- Write the message — Select an email template or write SMS/email content for the automated send.
- Activate — Turn the automation on. It will fire automatically when conditions are met.
- Monitor delivery — Check Dashboard → Communication History for automation delivery logs.
Tips & common issues
- Start with first-time guest — A welcome message sent within minutes of a first check-in is one of the highest-impact automations you can set up.
- Don't over-automate — Begin with 2–3 automations and expand once you see what resonates with your congregation.
- Template library — Browse Dashboard → Template Library for starter templates you can customize for automations.
