SMS/Email Campaigns

Send one-time SMS or email blasts to a segment — distinct from giving fundraising campaigns.

What it is

SMS/Email campaigns let you send a one-time message blast to a saved segment. Use them for event announcements, follow-up sequences, volunteer requests, and seasonal outreach.

Note: This is different from Giving Campaigns (fundraising goals tied to Stripe gifts). Giving campaigns live under Dashboard → Giving → Campaigns. See Giving Funds & QR Codes for details.

Where to find it

  • Dashboard → Campaigns (/dashboard/campaigns)
  • Create new: /dashboard/communications/campaigns/new
  • Campaign detail: /dashboard/campaigns/{id}

Step-by-step workflow

  1. Open Campaigns — Navigate to Dashboard → Campaigns from the sidebar.
  2. Create a campaign — Click New Campaign to open the campaign wizard.
  3. Choose channel — Select SMS, email, or both.
  4. Select audience — Pick a saved segment or create one inline.
  5. Write your message — For email, choose a template or build content in the editor. For SMS, write a concise text message.
  6. Schedule or send — Send immediately or schedule for a future date and time.
  7. Review results — After sending, open the campaign detail page for delivery stats, opens, clicks, and export options.

Tips & common issues

  • Trial limits — Trial accounts include 50 SMS and 500 emails. Monitor usage in Dashboard → Billing.
  • Communications settings — Ensure SendGrid and Twilio are configured in Dashboard → Settings → Communications before sending.
  • Naming clarity — Label campaigns clearly (e.g., "Easter Sunday Invite — SMS") so your team can find them in the history log.
